BELTED AND BLOUSED
Friday, July 01, 2016
I thought this morning I would share a piece of my lyric collection with you to accompany my Sunday outfit from this past weekend. Here is "A Million Memories."
Walk yourself back to
A million memories ago.
Watch yourself live and
Learn things you already know.
Yes, you struggled with hard days
And cried in the rain but
It helped you grow.
But without the pain, if you met you today
A new you would show.
So when the skies are gray when you wouldn't choose them to
Then say, "I know the sky is Carolina blue."
And when the past brings back the hard truth
Like lightening on a tin roof
Remember a million memories ago isn't you.
Not today no.
But skeletons hide in
The forgotten corners of your room.
Put them out of your mind but
They seem to always haunt you.
You long to make amends
But you don't know if you can
I'll tell you what to do.
Fall to your knees and
Ask God to make you a new man.
So when the skies are gray when you wouldn't choose them to
Then say, "I know the sky is Carolina blue."
And when the past brings back the hard truth
Like lightening on a tin roof
Remember a million memories ago isn't you.
The past is history.
Yes the past is His story
His story for you.
And today when life gets you down
Remember a million memories from now
You'll be new and improved.
So when the skies are gray when you wouldn't choose them to
Then say, "I know the sky is actually blue."
And when the past brings back the hard truth
Like lightening on a tin roof
Remember a million memories ago isn't you.
